Moving Towards Wellness
About Us

The Rehabilitation/Recreation Therapist works with clients having various therapy needs.  The therapist works in conjunction with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists and Physiotherapists incorporating the recommended programming into the client’s daily activities.

All our Rehabilitation Therapists have extensive experience working with clients with brain injury (severe and moderate), spinal cord injury (quadriplegic, paraplegic) and multiple trauma including orthopaedic.  The therapists are adept at integrating programming that has been constructed by the Health Care Practitioner Team.

Rehabilitation Therapy can be very structured as it relates to specific pencil and paper tasks, or community integration orientated as it relates to outings such as grocery shopping or bowling.

Our Rehabilitation Therapists attend formal education sessions in order to provide the best care possible and liaison appropriately with the health care team.

Rehabilitation / Recreation Therapy includes the following:

  • Cognitive Therapy
  • Social and Community reintegration
  • Family reintegration
  • Job Coaching
  • Home and Community-Based Exercise Program
  • Reintegration for leisure pursuits
  • Workplace reintegration
  • Job Shadowing
  • Life Skills Training
  • Education assistance in school, college or university

Family education can also be provided by the Rehabilitation Therapist in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Physiotherapist and Case Management.  In addition, Rehabilitation Therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation team and obtains information from clinical and family conferences.

Note: A Rehabilitative Consultant well connected in the rural communities of Huron/Perth, Grey/Bruce and Lambton/Middlesex, can match clients with services and assure success in the rehabilitative process. Through hiring a Local Professional Rehabilitation Manager, stakeholders can reduce cost on files considerably based on travel, local knowledge and direct exposure to services within the rural community.
